Iowa Park, Texas

Whew! Youth camp is over! I have never been so tired in my life. Rebecca Ensey told me, "Just wait until you have children, THEN you will be TIRED." I know there's probably a lot of truth in that. Youth camps were really great. I believe that God did great things in the lives of many, many young people. It was great to be able to serve the wonderful teens of Texas District.

We preached for the Orange's in Deweyville on Wednesday night in exchange for a new trailer hitch. It's amazing how much better this one pulls our trailer. A great big THANK YOU to the Michael and Stephanie Orange. We love and appreciate you both.

We pulled into Iowa Park last night to be with Graves' until Wednesday. They were so hospitable and welcoming. I know that I will be sad to leave. Yesterday was a day, let me tell you. We pulled out of Lufkin about 11am and headed to Fort Worth. I had to stop in Dallas to buy some more flower pins that I sell at the churchs we go to. Then we decided to stop at Subway in NRH. While I was inside getting sandwiches for both of us, Chad comes in and tells me that we have a flat tire. I was thinking, "Eh, flat tire. No big deal, right?" So, I ate my sandwich and decided to wait for Chad outside. By the way, it was 105 degrees outside. About 45 minutes later, Chad brings McGregor to me. Gregor was very tired and hot and decided he wasn't walking anymore. He just sorta plopped down and looked at me as if to say, "Nope. Not moving an inch." (Chad and Gregor walked from Discount Tire to Subway. It's not that far, but it feels like 2 miles in that kind of heat.)
So, I stayed outside with McGregor. To make a long story short, we had to relace all four tire's valve stems. We finally got on the road at 6:30pm and ended up pulling into Iowa Park around 8:30pm. Long day.
Today, I decided to give Gregor a haircut myself. For all of you that know how a razor traumtizes my puppy, I'm sure that you know how that went. I accidently cut his ear, and he went berserk. I hope it's alright to put antibiotic ointment on dogs, because I did. Poor puppy.

We are looking forward to GREAT services tomorrow and Wednesday!

Euless, Texas

A lot can happen to a person in three days. Our three day adventure started on Wednesdy morning at 1:18am. I woke up to a horrible crashing sound and our trailer was violently shaking. I woke Chad up and asked him if we needed to take shelter inside our church. It took him a few seconds, but he finally woke up and realized that the wind was tearing up our awning. We raced outside - in the storm, I might add - and tried to get the awning down. Well, we didn't know it at the time, but the wind had bent the metal support of the awning on one side. Finally, after struggling with it during the storm, we decided to call Chad's dad. He came and helped Chad roll it up. We also discovered that the storm tore the material part of the awning. So, we will have to get that fixed. My little brother, Micah, was with us and he was so scared that he called my mom and dad. I had no idea until afterwards, so I'm sorry about that mom and dad. Poor Micah, he'll probably never want to stay with us again!

Let me back up - On Tuesday afternoon, I was cooking (yes, I said cooking) and Chad found a truck on Craigslist. We absolutley love Craigslist, by the way. So, he and his dad decided to go look at it.

Okay, back to Wednesday - Chad LOVED the truck, so he starts the paperwork to buy it. Actually, that process was flawless, and we have no complaints about that at all. We also discovered that we needed more propane, so we load up the two huge jugs, or whatever you call them, and begin our search for propane. Finally we found a little place and they filled them up. So we get back home and Chad puts the propane in. We use hot water, and I cook and everything is great. Well, Chad starts to smell propane really bad outside, so we go out there to check it out. Well, since we are novices, we can't find anything wrong. Once again, we call Chad's dad, Steve, and ask for help. He discovers that the people that filled up the propane didn't screw on the nozzle properly. So, Chad was relieved that it wasn't his fault and that he had hooked it up right. So, in between all of this, we buy the truck and we go to Greenville to get it. It's a really nice ride. Chad is so proud of it. I am only a USB connection away from having pics on the blog. So, hang in there with me!

On Thursday, we decide to wash the trailer. So, we went to Home Depot to buy brushes and stuff. It actually took us about two hours to wash it. But it looks like a brand new trailer, and I am proud to take it anywhere. On Thursday night, we went to Piranah's in downtown Ft. Worth with Chad's mom and dad, Pam and Steve. It's a sushi place, for those of you who don't know. It's a cool little place with a very modern/contemporary feel. I have to tell you though, the guy sitting at the table next to us really grossed me out! The waitress brought him a plate of sushi and these two little eggs that are opened at the top and has black gooey stuff inside. All four of us are like, "What IS that?" And we were all grossing out and everything. So then we start to wonder how he will eat it. It didn't take long to find out. He grabs one of the eggs and dumps the inside gooey stuff in his mouth. Honestly, I was away from the table when he did that, or I might have... well, you know. I have a really weak stomach when it comes to stuff like that, so I was just so grossed out the rest of the meal . We eventually found out that it was a bird egg. It looked like a BABY bird egg to me. I mean, regular chicken eggs are okay, but WHAT KIND OF BIRD WAS THAT??? Ugh! I gotta stop or I will make myself sick again.

Well, we are supposed to be pulling out of Euless sometime today. We will be in Orange, TX on Sunday with the Smith's. Please pray that we have a safe and uneventful journey!

Euless, Texas

June 2, 2009

Wow! I can't believe it's already June! This year has really flown by. I'm sitting in my home on wheels just checking my e-mail and writing a few thank you notes and such. Trying to get ready to pull out on Friday. We are scheduled to speak in Orange, TX on Sunday. We still haven't found a new truck. We have been looking frantically since last Thursday when our wonderful insurance company decided to total our truck. I'm still scratching my head as to why in the world is took them 6 WEEKS to decide that it needed to be totaled. Chad and I knew that immediately when we saw how the meth heads had damaged our truck. Oh well, there's a reason for everything, right?

Yesterday, Chad went to look at a few trucks but found nothing that we could actually buy. We are hoping for better luck today. I went to Dallas Market yesterday with one of my friends. We had a good time. I bought some baby girl outfits to sell at my booth when we go to churchs. I'm excited to have some new stuff to display. Chad got me a new camera for our 6th wedinganniversary, and I absolutley love it. BUT I can't figure out how to use the converter drive on my computer. Hopefully I will get it figured out pretty soon so that I can post some pics of the trailer on here. Last night, we went to dinner for my sister-in-law's birthday. She chose this little place called Farina's in downtown Grapevine. I have always liked downtown Grapevine - it's so nice to window shop at the little boutiques that the town is known for.

My little brother, Micah is on summer vacation and is staying with us this week. It's always so nice to have him here with us. He's a really good kid.

This morning, we experienced a thunderstorm. In fact, it got so bad that Micah and I went and waited out the storm inside our church here in Euless. Now, the sun is coming out. Thank goodness! It's just a little scary being in the trailer during a storm.

Well, we are have BBQ chicken tonight - the chicken is cooking in the crock pot - with Macaroni and Cheese and Brownies. It will be my first time to use the new little oven. What? I sound scared? No, of course I'm not scared! Of that little GAS (instead of electric) oven? No, no, no! Hopefully I won't be banned from the kitchen!
